I work from the belief that our inner lives—our feelings, thoughts, and reactions—always have meaning. They're not random or broken; they serve a purpose and shape how we show up in the world, often without us even realizing it.
In therapy, we look at those internal experiences not just to understand them, but to reconnect you with a stronger, more unified sense of self—where you feel more in control, more "you."
For example, let’s say you often shut down or feel numb in conversations with your partner. On the surface, it might seem like you’re just avoiding conflict. But when we slow down and look underneath, we might discover that those shutdowns are actually protecting you from old, painful feelings—maybe rejection, shame, or fear that your needs won’t be met. Once we uncover and work through those emotions, something powerful happens: you're no longer stuck in the same loop. You can respond differently, more freely, and with more choice.
That’s really what this work is about—liberating the part of you that’s been buried under old patterns or emotional blocks. Simply put: your inner life is meaningful, and it has power. Therapy helps you reclaim that.
What to expect at Melbourne Dynamic Therapy
Empathic and effective Therapy for the benefit of the patients and clients that come to us for help.
We offer in intensive and bespoke therapy process, a process where we aim to do more than just provide short-term band-aids for your difficulties. In a thoroughgoing therapy our efforts together go towards helping you make real life changes in a sustainable way.
Our first sessions will involve an evaluation of your needs. By the end of this evaluation, we will be able to offer you some impressions of what our work might look like if you decide to continue with therapy. Our normal evaluation period is 2 to 4 hours of sessions. During this time, you and your therapist can both decide if they are the best person to provide the help you need in order to meet your goals for you.
Therapy involves a commitment of time, money, and energy, and you should be careful about the therapist you select. If you have questions about the process, you should discuss them whenever they arise.
We usually schedule one session per week, at a time we agree on. You will be asked to agree to attend therapy sessions regularly.
